Instructors for the workshop in March were: Beth Kander and Megan Donahue
Beth is a writer and actress living in Jackson, Mississippi. Recent
honors include winning the 2009 Mississippi Theatre Association Playwriting
Award; being named the 2009 Best Jackson Writer by the Jackson Free
Press; having short plays
produced by 11:11 Theater in Boston, Planet Ant Theater in Detroit, Flint City Theatre in Flint and the
Heartland Theatre in Illinois; and having her full-length play
Unshelved included in the 2008 Eudora Welty New Play Series. Her
full-length comedy See Jane Quit will be produced in Lexington, Kentucky
in March 2010. She has also taught playwriting for Millsap's College.
In addition to playwriting, Beth has completed several short films and
has had numerours short stories and articles published. Beth serves on
the board of Fondren Theatre
Workshop and performs with the Offkilter Comedy Troupe. Beth
holds a B.A.Brandeis University and her master's degree is from the University of
Michigan. Some of recent appearances onstage were as Claire in Fuddy Meers at New
Stage Theatre, as Ginette in Almost, Maine at Unframed at New Stage, and
as The Bride in The Monster Monologues
with the Fondren Theatre Workshop.
Megan is a playwright and actress living in Flint, Michigan. Megan
has had several plays produced, notably her full-length drama Touch of
the God-Kissed produced by Flint City Theatre and her delightful take on
Sleeping Beauty
for the Kearsley Park Summer Theater Project. Megan has recently learned
that her new play has been accepted for the London Fringe Festival in
Summer 2010. In addition to playwriting, Megan serves on the board of
Flint City Theatre and has directed and designed for several of their
productions. She has taught numerous workshops in theater, movement and
voice. Recent stage roles include Viola in Twelfth Night and Lavinia in Titus Andronicus with Flint City Theatre
and Cecily in The
Importance of Being Earnest in Clarkston. Megan received her BA
from University of Michigan.
